Product, Road-Use and Exhaust Disclaimer
H&C Custom is an independent supplier and is not affiliated with, authorised by or endorsed by any motorcycle manufacturer. Manufacturer names, model names and trademarks are used solely to identify product compatibility.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, products supplied by H&C Custom are aftermarket components and are not original factory equipment. Their installation or use may affect a motorcycle’s manufacturer warranty, insurance cover, emissions compliance, road legality or MOT status. We recommend that all parts are installed by a suitably qualified technician.
The availability of a product for purchase, or its physical compatibility with a motorcycle, does not mean that it is homologated or approved for use on UK public roads. Unless a product is specifically described as road approved, customers must not assume that it is road legal.
Some exhaust systems and performance parts are non-homologated and intended solely for competition, show or off-road use. Non-homologated products must not be used on public roads unless they have subsequently obtained the approvals required by law.
Under current motorcycle MOT standards for Great Britain, an exhaust silencer marked “NOT FOR ROAD USE”, “TRACK USE ONLY” or with similar wording is classed as a major defect. An exhaust may also receive a major defect if it is insecure, has a major leak or produces noise that is clearly and unreasonably above that expected from a similar motorcycle fitted with a standard silencer in average condition.
Passing an MOT does not, by itself, confirm that a product is homologated, approved for road use or compliant with every applicable legal requirement. Separate rules may apply to product approval, exhaust markings, noise, emissions and vehicle construction.
The purchaser is responsible for:
-
Checking the product description, approval status, markings and compatibility before purchase, installation and use.
-
Ensuring that the motorcycle and all fitted components comply with the laws and regulations applicable where the motorcycle is registered and used.
-
Informing their insurer of modifications where required.
-
Checking the latest official road-use and MOT requirements, as laws and inspection standards may change.
H&C Custom does not represent non-homologated products as suitable or approved for public-road use. Such products must only be used in an appropriate and lawful setting.
Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or affects your statutory consumer rights.
